Victor Valenote
AIA, LEED AP, A4LE
Senior Principal

Victor has over 25 years of experience as an architect, and has been a Principal with BDS Architects since 2008. Over the years, he has developed an expertise in arctic planning, design, and construction that is unmatched by his peers in the Alaska design community. Victor offers a thoughtful and rigorous understanding of each project’s unique context and dynamics. He has honed his skills to successfully design complex renovations, additions, and new facilities specific for the Alaskan landscape. Combining his extensive experience while listening to the needs and vision of the communities, he creates structures that are balanced, efficient, and positively impact the lives of users.

Scott Worthington
AIA, LEED AP, A4LE
Senior Principal

Scott brings more than 30 years of Alaska architecture experience to the leadership team. The depth and breadth of his portfolio includes an award winning K-12 school design, various facilities for the United States Military, and a variety of historical preservation projects for the National Park Service. With a fine arts background, Scott is known for blending art, function, and practicality within his designs. He approaches projects with enthusiasm and creativity and is committed to designing built environments that positively impact communities.

Eric Spangler
AIA, A4LE
Senior Principal

Specializing in the planning and programming of a variety of facilities for over 25 years, Eric always works to apply universal design standards to ensure users have an equal opportunity to experience a space. His ability to translate client’s goals into design solutions that are technically progressive as well as functional result in award winning designs, including the AIA recognized Palmer SEED Lab. Eric has proven his abilities throughout Alaska taking the lead on the Career Technical Education (CTE) Programs that cultivate workplace skills in Alaska’s youth.

Jennifer Midthun
AIA, LEED AP BD+C, A4LE
Associate Principal

Jennifer is a highly skilled Project Architect that has been with BDS since 2011, she brings more than 15 years of educational, institutional, and commercial design experience in Alaska. She is instrumental in leading project teams through the creative process and ensuring the design meets the client’s expectations and values a holistic approach to architecture. When she’s not working Jennifer enjoys running the wonderful trail systems of Anchorage, traveling to see famous buildings, camping adventures, and singing with the Anchorage Concert Chorus. As a lifelong Alaskan, Jennifer is dedicated to improving the built environment of her city and state.

Bryce Hamels
AIA, NCARB, RRO
Associate Principal

Renowned for his technical skill, diligence, and pragmatic approach, Bryce is the only IIBEC Registered Roof Observer (RRO) in Alaska and brings nearly 20 years of Alaska architectural experience to the BDS team. Clients consistently praise him for his meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to project excellence, regardless of project size or scope. As an architect, Bryce always goes beyond the role of a designer, seeking to understand and anticipate the owner’s needs.  In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing guitar, and drawing.

Erika Connor
MBA
Associate Principal + Controller

Erika has over 20 years of experience in accounting and business administration in the professional services industry and has guided the financial operations at BDS for nearly 10 years. As a proud alumna of the College of Business and Public Policy at UAA she holds a Masters of Business Administration. She looks forward to continuing to add value and support strategies that move BDS forward for another 40 years. Other than crunching numbers, Erika loves running around Anchorage and exploring Alaska with her family.
