JBER Visitor Control Center

Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska

Modern technology meets modern design

We worked closely with the US Air Force 673 CES/CENMP at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER) to site adapt these 2,400 square feet, Air Force prototype floor plan for a Visitor Control Center (VCC). The project opened for visitors in June of 2022, successfully achieving base leadership’s vision of a welcoming and comfortable facility that exudes pride of place and promotes an attractive impression of the base.

The facility serves as the primary access point for JBER to welcome and process visitors requesting access to the base. The design is fully adapted to the Alaska climate and is the first to incorporate the new JBER Installation Facility Standards (IFS). Military force protection protocols were incorporated into the site and building exterior façade including ballistic protection for facility staff. The facility is fully handicap accessible. A memorial honoring POW and MIA was designed to be visible as people enter the base.
